Michigan Girls Competitive Cheer is played in the winter season. It consist of three rounds of cheer per team. Music, mascots and props of any kind are prohibited in all round of competition. Each team must put a minimum of 4 competitors and a maximum of 16 competitors in Round 1 & 3. The number of competitors in Rounds 1 & 3 must be the same. Each team must compete with the division mandated number in Round 2. The team which accumulates the most points over three round of competition will be declared the winner. Round 1- the Required Round- Max score 240 points Time limitation - Round 1 must be performed within 1 minute and 30 seconds. Requirements - Round 1 shall be a choreographed routine containing twos different jumps performed in unison by every team member. The two required jumps must be the first two jumps performed in the routine. Unison refers to the direction of skill as well as arm, leg ad body position. Each competitor must face the same direction to meet the unison requirement. All Jumps preformed in round 1 can receive a maximum value of 10 point per jump. In addition, a minimum of five floor movements (6 different formations) are required. The essence of the round 1 routine is to create a routine with different arm motions, floor movement, and level changes. The routine performed in round 1 may contain jumps, kicks, level changes, peel-offs, and arm motions. Anything that requires the support of another person is illegal in this round. Round 2 - Compulsory round- Max score 234 points Time limitation - a Round 2 routine must be performed within 1 minute and 30 seconds. Requirements - Division mandated number of competitors: D1=12, D2=10, D3=8, D4=6. At the beginning of the routine each team must perform the 10-count precision drill in unison consisting of ten different motions performed in staggered lines. During the precision drill, the team will not be allowed to change its formation. Also, Round 2 shall be a choreographed cheer containing 5 different skills and only five may be selected for a given list of skills. All skills must be performed in unison and independently (not connecting). All aspects of the routine must be performed in unison. Round 3 - Open Round - Max score 308 points Time limitation- Round 3 must be performed within 2 minute and 30 seconds. Round 3 shall be a choreographed cheer and may include jumps, stunts, gymnastic skills, tumbling or any other legal cheer skills. A minimum of any 7 movements (8 floor formations) are required. |
